WHAT WE STOCK
Bulk Materials in Cincinnati, Sold by the Scoop
Everything here is the same material our own crews install. Sold by the scoop, loaded into your truck or trailer at no charge, or delivered.
Mulch
Double shredded in black or brown, or triple shredded premium black at $31.75. Triple holds its color longer and knits together better on a slope, which matters on most west side beds.
$27.50 per scoop, double shredded
Topsoil
For filling low spots, prepping a bed or getting a lawn level before seed or sod. If you are correcting drainage rather than just filling, tell us and we will talk through it first.
$31.50 per scoop
Stone & Gravel
Limestone from $40 for drives, bases and drainage. Brassfield decorative stone from $45 and oversized creek rock at $40.14. Price varies by size. Stone is heavy, so check your trailer rating before you load, or let us deliver.
From $40.00 per scoop, limestone
Road Salt
Bagged salt disappears from the shelves the day a storm hits the forecast. As far as we know we are the only local source selling it by the scoop, which is why contractors and property managers buy it here all winter.
$105.80 per scoopAlso at the Yard
Bagged Materials
The most common varieties in bags, black and brown mulch among them, for a small bed or a car trunk. Bagged is a smaller part of what we do than bulk, so the range is deliberately short.
Pine Straw
Bagged pine straw, lighter to handle than mulch and a common choice around established plantings and on slopes where mulch tends to wash.
Seed & Playground Chips
Grass seed for patching and overseeding, and playground chips available by request. Ask when you order and we will have it ready.
HOW MUCH DO I NEED
Mulch and Material Calculator
Measure the bed, pick a depth and this works out the rest. Not a rectangle? Break it into sections, run each one and add them up.
Three scoops make two cubic yards, so one scoop covers about 72 square feet at three inches deep. Stone and limestone are priced by size, so the estimate uses the starting price and we confirm the exact figure when you order.

What Customers Say About the Material
Neighborhood Favorite, Nextdoor 2024 & 2025 Best Landscaping Crew, Cincinnati Magazine 2024 & 2025
The material we sell is the material we install, so most of these reviews are from customers who had us do the work. One describes topsoil and dark mulch going in with new plantings. Another had mulching and rock beds done the same week.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Questions About Ordering Material
How much is a scoop?
A scoop is one bucket off the loader, and three scoops make two cubic yards. So one scoop is about two thirds of a yard. The calculator above turns your bed measurements into the number of scoops to order, so you do not have to do the math. If you are between sizes, round up. Leftover mulch is easier to deal with than a bed that is short.
Can I just come to the yard?
Yes. The yard on Gracely Drive in Sayler Park is open to the public Monday through Friday and Saturday mornings. No appointment, no order ahead. Pull in, tell us what you need and we will load you. Calling first is worth it late in the day, so someone is on the loader when you arrive.
What size vehicle do I need to pick it up?
A standard pickup bed handles a scoop of mulch comfortably. Stone and topsoil are much heavier for the same volume, so check your vehicle or trailer rating before loading more than one scoop of either. If you are not sure, tell us what you are driving when you order and we will load accordingly.
How deep should mulch go?
Three inches for most beds. Less than two and weeds come through, more than four and you risk holding moisture against stems and trunks. If you are topping up existing mulch rather than starting fresh, measure what is already there and make up the difference instead of adding a full three inches.
Where do you deliver?
Across the west side and out to 30 miles. Delivery is $50 within 20 miles and $75 within 30, and pickup at our yard is free. Tell us where you want the pile when you order, because moving it twice is the part nobody enjoys.
Do you sell to contractors?
Yes. Contractors and property managers buy from us regularly, road salt especially, since we sell it by the scoop through the winter when bagged salt has sold out everywhere else. If you buy on a repeating basis, call rather than ordering online and we will set it up.
Do you sell bagged material?
A short list of it. Black and brown mulch, pine straw and the other common varieties, plus grass seed. Bagged is harder to store than bulk so we keep the range deliberately small, and bulk is cheaper per yard by a wide margin once you are past a bag or two.
Can you spread it instead?
Yes, that is most of what we do. Buying the material is the do-it-yourself route, and plenty of people prefer it. If the job is bigger than a Saturday, or the beds need edging and cleanup first, we can quote the whole thing installed.
